Take Control of Type 1 Diabetes

Sick child

Your child comes home from school, looking exhausted. They tell you they feel dehydrated and nauseous. You rush them to your family doctor, who diagnoses them with Type 1 Diabetes. Your entire world becomes a blur of doctor’s appointments, blood glucose levels, and bolus rates.

Understandably, one of your biggest struggles now is monitoring your child’s health. But you’re probably also trying to make sure they’re happy and healthy.

Docto is here to help you with just that.

A little history lesson

Docto was founded in 2014 by a group of people passionate about helping Type 1 Diabetics. We reached out to parents with T1D children, and uncovered personal stories about how the disease had affected their lives.

Many of the parents we spoke to were home schooling their children, because their schools didn’t have nurses who specialized in T1D. One mother even told us that she had to sleep in the same room as her child, in case something happened in the middle of the night. She added that this was causing a considerable amount of strain on her family and marriage.

Touched by these personal stories, we put a team together to create Docto — an app that is designed to be your virtual endocrinologist.

Your virtual endocrinologist

How does Docto work?

Docto measures activity and heart rate, and predicts blood glucose levels one hour into the future. Using an advanced algorithm that combines your metabolism, current glucose levels, heart rates, and activity, Docto will let you know your blood sugar levels 60 minutes in advance.

How is Docto different from other T1D apps?

While most T1D apps give your blood glucose levels in the past, Docto is the first app that predicts the levels in the future. This allows you to know what your levels will be if you continue the status quo. This also lets you know what adjustments you need to make in order to maintain healthy levels. Having access to this type of data will make managing your health that much easier!

Another major difference between Docto and other apps is that while most apps require you to manually track your levels and symptoms, Docto requires no manual implementation. Instead, you just need to pick tags and let Docto do all the work for you!
